What Your Job Will Be Like: Organization 02950, Design Engineering, is seeking a Manager, R&D Science and Engineering to direct a team of Engineers and Technologists in department 2951, Mechanical Design, in developing and implementing strategies to deliver innovative design solutions, analysis, and high-quality mechanical design models and product definition to support successful testing of components and systems in support of product realization. Salary Range: $157,100 - $267,000 *Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential. About Our Team: Design Engineering provides mechanical and electrical design definition services for our weapon and non-weapon customers. The design staff in organization 2950 is involved in all aspects of the life-cycle design process from model creation through simulation and analysis. Design Engineering is also responsible for providing access to and configuration management of engineering information. Department 2951, using engineering principles and state-of-the-art CAD modeling tools, we create innovative design solutions for ND products in partnership with our engineering clients to ensure Sandia continues to deliver exceptional service in the national interest. For a variety of Systems and components used across multiple weapon programs, we conceptualize and create 3D solid models/engineering drawings and use them for design studies, rapid prototyping, analysis, and fabrication of product. We apply engineering design principles as we conduct tolerance analysis, design for manufacturability, material selection, geometric dimensioning, and geometry optimization. Our main goal is to ensure our products meet form, fit, and engineering design intent. Security Clearance: Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q security clearance to start, or equivalent active security clearance with another U.S. government agency (e.g., DOD).
