The Opportunity:

Job Title: Coordinator Assistant

Department: Lab Operations

Location:Waltham, MA
Shift:Mon - Fri, ~7:00 am - 3:30 pm
Wage: ~$29 per hour

Summary:

The Coordinator Assistant is a key member of the laboratory operations team, providing essential support to scientific research groups. This role serves as a critical liaison between scientists and laboratory operations, ensuring smooth and efficient lab operations while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Support for Lab Space Changes: Provide operational support for the Lab Operations team in handling physical space changes requested by scientific groups, ensuring that changes are implemented efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Equipment Management: Execute tasks in the QR system, including moving and removing equipment, ensuring all tasks are completed with accuracy and in compliance with safety standards.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of usable or stored equipment, ensuring proper organization, tracking, and replenishment as necessary.
  • Lab Furniture Reconfiguration: Move and adjust benches, tables, and freestanding furniture to accommodate the evolving needs of the lab, ensuring a safe and functional workspace.
  • Incubator and BSC Cleaning: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of incubators and biological safety cabinets (BSCs) to ensure proper operation and compliance with lab standards.
  • Install BSC Waste Traps: Install and maintain waste traps in biological safety cabinets as required, ensuring lab safety and waste management protocols are followed.
  • Freezer Checks and Scraping: Conduct regular freezer checks and scraping to maintain optimal storage conditions and ensure the safety and integrity of stored materials.
  • Lab Resource Coordinator help: Assist lab resource coordinators with projects, equipment, etc.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required; Associate degree or BA/BS Degree in science preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in a laboratory setting highly desired. Undergraduate lab work will be considered
  • Microsoft Office experience required with proficiency in Word and Excel.
  • Must be flexible, forward- thinking, motivated, and can act independently.
  • High level of customer service skills with a professional, can-do demeanor.
  • Requires laboratory knowledge including using various instruments to prepare for and perform tests.
  • Able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Effective communication, both verbal and written, with customer and internal stakeholders required.
  • Ability to follow site protocols, policies, and procedures to stay safe, prioritize tasks, solve problems, ensure quality, and meet goals.
  • Conform to all customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, and security clearances required.
