Senior Unix/AIX Administrator

Cognizant is seeking a Senior AIX/Unix Administrator for a full-time opportunity in Austin, TX. This is an onsite role.

Responsibilities

* Design and implement robust infrastructure solutions to meet the company's needs.

* Oversee the administration of AIX and HP Unix Systems to ensure optimal performance

* Provide technical expertise in the planning and execution of infrastructure projects.

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components.

* Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain system reliability.

* Develop and maintain documentation for infrastructure processes and configurations.

* Ensure compliance with security policies and procedures in all infrastructure activities.

* Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve infrastructure efficiency.

* Lead efforts to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational workflows.

* Provide training and support to junior team members on infrastructure best practices.

* Participate in capacity planning and disaster recovery planning to ensure business continuity.

* Coordinate with vendors and service providers to manage infrastructure-related contracts and services.

* Contribute to the development of infrastructure strategies and roadmaps to support business goals.

Qualifications

* Extensive experience in AIX Administration and HP Unix Administration.

* Possess strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.

* Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

* Proficiency in scripting and automation tools to streamline infrastructure processes.

* Solid understanding of network protocols and security best practices.

* Experience with capacity planning and disaster recovery planning.

* Nice to have experience with cloud infrastructure and virtualization technologies.

* Detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate documentation.

* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

* Must be proactive in identifying and addressing potential infrastructure issues.

* Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid work model.
