JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: We are searching for an Agile Systems Engineering (ASE) Department Head to join our Systems Engineering and Rapid Prototyping (SERP) Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. ARL's purpose is to research and develop innovative solutions to challenging scientific, engineering, and technology problems in support of the Navy, the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Intel Community (IC).This position may be filled as either a Research and Development Engineer or a non-tenure Research Faculty. The mission of the SERP Division is to provide full spectrum support for the research, evaluation, development, rapid prototyping, manufacturing, fielding, and testing of complex systems which support the warfighter and our nation's defense. The ASE Department supports this mission by executing research, design and application of engineering development methodologies supporting the strategic advancement of warfighter capability at the speed of relevance. The focus of the ASE Department is rapid development of complex engineering systems requiring the integration of cross-disciplinary solutions and expertise utilizing best practices of systems engineering in an agile manner. This position can be filled a multiple levels depending on your education and experience. Minimally requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline and 5 years' related experience. A Master's Degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace or Systems Engineering is preferred. Required skills/experience areas include:
