Overview:

Performs laboratory testing procedures in specified department(s) under the general supervision of laboratory testing personnel meeting the general supervisor qualifications. Understands laboratory tests and interprets test results using scientific knowledge of the principles of the test procedures and disease processes. Documents and reports test results. Maintains equipment and instrumentation. Functions in a high-paced environment which requires application of excellent critical thinking skills and customer service skills.

Currently enrolled in an accredited school of laboratory science and has achieved senior status in the program. Has completed at least 60 semester hours, or equivalent, which includes at least 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses; or, 24 semester hours of science courses that included 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of medical laboratory technology. Has completed successful rotation for assigned laboratory departments. Letter of recommendation from the school's program director or instructor.
