Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Technician.
The Snuderl Lab of Pathology is recruiting an Associate Research Technician to be responsible for performing basic laboratory experiments under general supervision as well as more advanced duties under direct supervision. The successful candidate will be expected to assist in designing and scientifically developing methodology for new research tests under the direction of the Principal Investigator. They will participate in experiments, assay development including the scientific R&D bench work, manage validation projects, review data, quality control, and laboratory workflow processes. They will also participate in result review and interpretation.
Job Responsibilities:
Assists in the process of designing and testing methodology and development protocols for newassays
Participates in academic activities of the Laboratory, reviews the methods and results for publication
Follows all departmental biohazard, chemical, hazardous waste, infection control, and other safety police are followed
Participates in designing and optimizing new protocols, including analysis of scientific literature and industry protocols, testing new reagents and assays, reviewing data quality and summarizing the results
Works closely with Core Facilities. Follows the sample preparation protocols and delivers samples to the cores for analysis in timely manner, communicates with the Coe Technicians about sample preparation and data analysis
Participates in development and validation of microfabricated chips for tumor analysis, extracts cells and performs necessary sorting and extraction for molecular analysis
Performs microscopy analysis of samples
Processing of raw data for downstream analysis.
Performs molecular analysis of humans tumor and non-tumor samples using genetic andepigenetic assays
Extracts DNA, RNA, protein from fresh/frozen and formalin fixed paraffin embedded samples
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
This is an entry level trainee position with no experience necessary and a Bachelors of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is not required (but preferred). Experience in some areas of basic cellular immunology, molecular biology, tissue culture would be advantageous but is not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience and Bachelors of Science Degree in Life Sciences or a related field is preferred. Experience with DNA array profiling or immunofluorescence/immunohistochemistry techniques would be advantageous.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $46,900.00 - $53,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
