ams OSRAM SYLVANIA is searching for a Packaging Engineering to be a key contributor within our team, designing and maintaining attractive packaging that help drive consumer sales and protect our products. We are searching for a team player with diverse skills and experience, driven by the desire to make products stand out while remaining profitable.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Drives best-in-class packaging designs, standards and specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements, and the type of protection required. Evaluates, prioritizes and applies innovative solutions/ new technologies and materials in the design of packaging to deliver a consumer benefit, enhance profit margin, and/or reduce the environmental impact of our packaging.
  • Drive and identify cost/margin improvement projects through the optimization of primary and secondary package design / re-design. Report cost savings initiatives on packaging-related projects. Identify packaging projects to improve yield, lower costs and improve efficiency
  • Understands and is knowledgeable of laboratory activities and tests, using scientific systems/tools, to assess technical feasibility in the qualification of materials/structures, co-packers, and suppliers. Perform quantitative and qualitative analyses to support continuous improvement programs in the manufacturing processes through the redesign of packaging components.
  • Support technical activities related to new and existing product packaging, process optimization, process and equipment troubleshooting, and process validation. Support investigations relating to packaging issues, product release performance, and/or customer complaints. Maximize the success rate for packaging operations by instituting programs to minimize human error, mechanical failure, contaminations, and procedural error(s)
  • Create packaging drawings for existing processes based on specifications and standards. Support activities relating to change of processes, components and raw materials utilizing Engineering Change Order procedures. Participate in project teams to execute project goals and assignments. Manage assigned workload through effective time management, planning, and coordination of projects to ensure required deadlines are met.
Who we are looking for

Requirements:

  • Education required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or Related Degree
  • 5+ years of experience working in global project teams as a Packaging Engineer, preferably within the Consumer Products industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of packaging development/processes/systems/Document control, as well as operations/supply chain processes, materials, and testing. Knowledge of e-commerce requirements, international regulations and norms.
  • Computer knowledge, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CAD (preferably Artios)
  • Ability to effectively organize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment driven by economic business decision-making
