Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated part time Data Center Lab Assistant to support our EXA DevOps Team in the installation, setup, and maintenance of lab hardware for Exascaler initiatives. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic environment. This role is located in our Colorado Springs Offices.

Key Responsibilities:

    Unboxing, installing, and configuring hardware components, including expansion JBOD enclosures, servers, switches, intelligent PDUs, and hard disk drives.
  • Coordinating shipping and receiving for new and old hardware related to Exascaler initiatives.
  • Inventorying and tracking new hardware as it is installed, configured, and used.
  • Responding to JIRA tickets in a timely fashion to communicate with developers on solutions and requests.
  • Testing, diagnosing, and characterizing issues related to computer data storage devices and subsystems.
  • Documenting findings, analyses, and proposed solutions in comprehensive problem reports.
  • Collaborating with Engineering teams to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Occasionally providing technical expertise to other departments and external vendors.
  • Generating monthly status reports detailing lab activities and progress.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electronics & Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred. An Associate degree combined with relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Logical thinking with clear and effective expression of ideas.
  • Solid understanding of basic computer system concepts.
  • Familiarity with computer storage interfaces and protocols is advantageous.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems at an advanced user level is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Proficiency in using electrical instruments and hand tools.
  • Flexible on-site hours preferred.
  • A thirst for learning new things every day, even after onboarding.
  • Have a growth mindset and a desire to continuously improve the environment and its processes.
  • The ability to pivot quickly between tasks as more high-priority requests and/or issues arise.
