About the Role This role is part of the Core Design Systems team within Global Marketing in the Executive office. Our mission is to enable high quality and cohesive user experiences at scale. We are looking for a designer to join our team and contribute to the evolution of our enterprise design system. You will work closely with product designers, engineers, and stakeholders to maintain and enhance our design system, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility across all digital products and experiences across Goldman Sachs. Responsibilities
- Design, maintain and evolve cross-platform component libraries in Figma.
- Refine designs based on user feedback, testing and insights from across cross-functional teams.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to educate and advocate for the use of the design system.
- Write, document and define scalable design system requirements.
- Collaborate directly with engineering partners to build components based on robust design and feature spec.
- Collaborate with designers and front-end developers to ensure seamless implementation of design system components.
- Support the governance of the design system, including defining contribution processes and gathering feedback from teams.
- Ensure that the design system and components adhere to quality standards (e.g., accessibility, motion, theming, etc.) and best practices by default.
- Ensure the design system meets accessibility (WCAG) and usability standards.
- Champion the design system by advocating best practices and providing real-time support through office hours and chats.
- Conduct design audits and UI consistency reviews to identify gaps and opportunities for system improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in design systems, UI/UX, and front-end technologies and bring them back to the team to work to apply to our work.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a System Designer, in addition to previously working as a product designer (2-4 years).
- Expertise in Figma, with experience creating, maintaining, and evolving design libraries.
- Expertise in design systems tools and workflows (e.g., design tokens, Figma variables).
- Experience partnering and collaborating with peers in cross-functional teams in addition to our direct team.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity while bringing clarity to challenges that span design, technology, and business needs.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA) and how to apply them in design and design systems.
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies (**HTML, CSS, JavaScript**) and how design systems integrate with code.
- Collaborative, "can do" work approach with ability to drive projects independently.
- Required to provide portfolio of work for review as part of interview process.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience designing for cross-platform products including web, iOS and Android.
- Experience in an enterprise environment or financial services.
- Experience in design system documentation and tools like Storybook, Zero height, or similar.
Salary Range The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $85000-$110000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
