National Director, TimeDone About Alliance for Safety and Justice Alliance for Safety and Justice (ASJ) is a national advocacy organization that aims to replace ineffective criminal justice system policies with what works to keep people safe. We represent diverse crime survivors as well as people living with old records as key public safety stakeholders. ASJ brings our members together with state leaders and coalition partners to win reforms that stop cycles of crime, reduce costly incarceration, and make communities safer. Who You Are The TimeDone National Director is passionate about redemption and freedom for all, seasoned in organizing, advocacy, nonprofit management, and fundraising, as well as public speaking, grassroots mobilization, and digital organizing, and is deeply familiar with the barriers people with records face to safety, stability, and mobility. This is an exciting leadership position in a growing program. TimeDone is a national organizing program combining organizing with leadership development to transform policies that impact people with old records and their families. What You'll Do Division Leadership (60%) Ensure TimeDone has strategic and measurable goals and can achieve grant benchmarks efficiently and effectively, and continually assess TimeDone's strategies, performance, and asset utilization toward achieving those strategic goals. Effectively manage internal and external relationships to ensure a strong representation of TimeDone and to advance TimeDone's programmatic goals. Ensure TimeDone grows as a strong membership program with capacity to empower people with old records to advance reform, including but not limited to: ensuring TimeDone achieves member growth and engagement goals; ensuring members have access to training and support; ensuring member voices are incorporated in policy and media advocacy, and ensuring members have opportunities to evaluate their experience with TimeDone. Serve as a national spokesperson for TimeDone in media, with state and federal government leaders, current and potential donors, and influencers to advance TimeDone visibility, policy influence, and shift narratives about people with old records Build and maintain relationships with organizations working on record clearance policy to advance TimeDone's policy agenda and reform goals. Build coalitions and partnerships with other advocacy organizations, grassroots movements, and policymakers to advance legislative and policy reforms Provide expertise and guidance on legislative and regulatory matters that impact people with old records. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high-performance among TimeDone team members. Ensure collaboration, communication, and integration with the other division heads at ASJ as part of the organization's management team. TimeDone Division Management (40%) In collaboration with the CEO, CFO, COO, Vice President, TimeDone Managing Director, and Development team, fundraise for TimeDone and manage TimeDone's programmatic budget through regular engagement with TimeDone donors (current and potential), and budgetary monitoring and review. In collaboration with the TimeDone Managing Director, oversee all aspects of TimeDone staff and program, including but not limited to ensuring TimeDone staff achieve TimeDone benchmarks, ensuring successful annual execution of TimeDone Day events, and ensuring staff have the training, guidance, and support needed to execute their respective roles. Required Experience and Qualifications The following offers an aspirational view of the ideal candidate experience; we encourage applications from candidates with a wide range of experiences and backgrounds, especially those from underrepresented groups. Strong candidates will offer the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Nonprofit leadership and supervisory experience, with a preference for experience in nonprofit executive management roles. Extensive experience leading advocacy efforts in criminal justice and/or public safety reform, with a strong focus on empowering and mobilizing directly impacted individuals. This may include expertise in policy development, grassroots organizing, media engagement, and/or strategic mobilization. Experience working with diverse communities and a deep commitment to social and racial justice. Experience fundraising and building relationships with donors. Prior experience interacting with the criminal justice system is preferred. Prior experience growing the membership of an organization is preferred. Direct experience as a person with a prior criminal record a plus.
