The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

The Senior Manager of Student Records plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations, strategic direction, and continuous improvement of student records and assessment services. This position requires a proven leader with exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of compliance and higher education operations, and the ability to guide high-performing teams in a fast-paced, complex environment. The ideal candidate is both a strategic thinker and a hands-on operator, capable of driving efficiency, ensuring data integrity, and fostering collaboration across departments to enhance the student experience.

About the Role

* Lead and develop a high-performing team of managers in a complex, student-focused environment, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

* Oversee daily operations and workflows, ensuring optimal resource utilization and alignment with university goals.

* Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, FERPA, and WGU policies, promoting consistent and accurate service delivery.

* Act as a subject matter expert for Student Records, contributing to strategic university projects and system decisions.

* Drive operational improvements through quality assurance, training initiatives, and process documentation.

* Collaborate cross-functionally with stakeholders across WGU to support shared goals and deliver a cohesive student experience.

* Leverage data and insights to evaluate performance, inform decisions, and communicate trends to executive leadership.

* Represent WGU in external associations and support institutional change initiatives as a leader and advisor.

About You

* 3-5 years of proven leadership in managing diverse teams in a complex or enterprise-level environment, with the ability to coach, mentor, and drive accountability.

* Strong knowledge of student records operations, compliance (FERPA), and higher education best practices.

* Advanced analytical skills with the ability to synthesize data into actionable insights and communicate findings effectively.

* Expertise in student information systems (e.g., Banner), including data reconciliation and system-based workflow optimization.

* Demonstrated success in managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and executing strategic initiatives.

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across functions and collaborate effectively.

* Ability to adapt to ambiguity, lead through change, and continuously seek opportunities for process improvement.

* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and regulatory requirements.

* Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

Position & Application Details

Full-Time Regular Positions (classified as regular and working 40 standard weekly hours): This is a full-time, regular position (classified for 40 standard weekly hours) that is eligible for bonuses; medical, dental, vision, telehealth and mental healthcare; health savings account and flexible spending account; basic and voluntary life insurance; disability coverage; accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity supplemental coverages; legal and identity theft coverage; retirement savings plan; wellbeing program; discounted WGU tuition; and flexible paid time off for rest and relaxation with no need for accrual, flexible paid sick time with no need for accrual, 11 paid holidays, and other paid leaves, including up to 12 weeks of parental leave.
