The Transaction Execution & Risk Management team (TERM) is responsible for risk management, supporting business growth, and high-quality transaction execution for debt underwritings globally, which include deal commitments, investments, relationship loans and best efforts debt financings. The Group is part of Global Banking & Markets (GBM) Private; team members work closely with GBM Private colleagues and many of the control areas of the Firm to make sure that debt transactions are properly diligenced, documented, reviewed, approved and efficiently managed through the process.

This position is a part of the Chief Underwriting Office (CUO), which is a team within TERM. As part of the CUO team, you will assist in all functions of the role with particular focus on committee management and administration, coordinating with and guiding transaction teams and committee, recording decisions and follow-ups, reviewing transaction memos, tracking and analyzing committee data and providing overall quality control. This role will have a particular focus on the committee that reviews investment opportunities in which Goldman Sachs makes a commitment: (i) whether directly on balance sheet or synthetically through total return swaps or other formats, and (ii) across all asset classes (e.g., bonds, loans, equity, derivatives, commodities and real estate); There will also be periodic special projects and presentations.

Responsibilities:



  • Work closely with Committee Senior Underwriting Officers and Chairs
  • Ensure "pipeline" of deals are flagged and agenda requests processed
  • Coordinate with transaction deal teams to help encourage timely memo submission
  • Work with transaction deal teams prior to memo submission to enhance accuracy/quality control
  • Scheduling of regular and ad hoc committee meetings
  • Assist in tracking transactions throughout a deal's life, up to execution
  • Coordinate with Compliance to wall cross committee members, as applicable
  • Ensure all requirements are checked for approval of commitment signature
  • Preparation of Committee agendas, and documenting and distributing committee minutes, decisions and follow ups
  • Ensure transaction files are complete and ready to be reviewed by regulators (covering committee approval, signing and closing)
  • Follow-up on requests from regulators
  • Help with miscellaneous reports and presentations
  • Leadership on cross-divisional technology projects to aid efficiency and automation


Qualifications:



  • Undergraduate Degree in Economics / Finance / Accounting related discipline
  • 3+ years financial services experience; prior swaps, bonds, loans, corporate derivative, and/ or real estate experience is a plus
  • Highly motivated and adaptable: ability to respond creatively and quickly in a fast-paced, high-pressure, changing environment and have a positive, hands-on, "can do" attitude
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills: Excellent multi-tasking abilities required; an ability to implement solutions that appropriately balance business needs, and a control perspective is critical.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Keen interest in the financial markets
  • Ability to work flexible hours given deal timelines and committee meetings that may require weekend work
