To address emerging national challenges, we develop software systems that enable the application of data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to a variety of domains, such as social media analysis, healthcare, cyber operations, and signal and video exploitation. Our group is currently making critical contributions to a variety of challenges in all of these domains. We want talented analysts, researchers, and engineers who can work as part of a team to design and implement state of the art data analytics, and acquire meaningful, actionable intelligence for our sponsors. You will combine your expertise with the latest technology, including generative AI, in order to rapidly prototype and build applications leveraging text, imagery, and other data modalities.

As a Full Stack Engineer you will...

• Support a wide variety of R&D projects and systems to ensure critical needs are met by providing Full stack expertise, as well as system construction solutions
• Work with sponsors and end users in defense or intelligence organizations to understand their operations and identify requirements
• Combine infrastructure engineering expertise with the latest DevOps technology to support projects end-to-end
• Stay abreast of industry and practices standards to ensure software and hardware maintainability
• Explore promising new research areas and maintain/gain technical edge required for projects. Share approaches and methods

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

• Possess a B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Possess a minimum of 2 years of practical experience developing software using Kotlin/Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, GO, or other relevant tools.
• Possess experience in several of the following technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, Databases (SQL or NoSQL), Javascript Frameworks, Web Applications.
• Possess experience working successfully within a team environment
• Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, both technical and non-technical
• Are able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

• Possess a Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Possesses experience with mentoring and teaching teammates
• Possess 5+ years of experience in Full Stack projects for the DoD or IC
• Possess experience scaling a microservices app or converting a monolithic app to micro services
• Possess Frontend experience with VueJS
• Posessese experience with authentication flows for applications (OAUTH, SAML, LDAP, etc)
• Possess experience with training and deploying ML models
• Possess experience with darknet, pytorch, caffe, tensorflow
• Possess experience with Object storage systems like MinIO or similar
• Possess familiarity with MLOps tech stacks like KubeFlow, MLFlow, AirFlow, DVC, etc.
• Possess experience in any of the following technologies:
  • Vmware Ecosystem (Tanzu, ESXi, vRops, Bitfusion)
  • CI/CD pipeline management, Kubeflow
  • Cloud-scale architectures, AWS, EKS
  • Cisco Networking
• Hold a current active security clearance

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
