Medica is a non-profit health insurance company headquartered in Minnetonka with offices in Madison and Omaha. The company is active across the heart of America and provides health care coverage in multiple markets. Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grant-making work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs.

Medica will host a 12-week, paid Internship Program. Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns through weekly Lunch-and-Learns and opportunities to hear from Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you will be able to discuss with future employers. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year.

Department Introduction:

Medica's Sales Intern will work in our Markets Growth and Retention Sales team to support broker and direct-to-consumer sales as well as key strategic projects that support our sales team. Product segments include Individual Family Business and Government Programs. Our intern will have opportunities to learn about selling health insurance and work alongside stakeholders from Sales, Marketing, Product, Operations, IT and Compliance/Legal.

Additional responsibilities may include:



  • Assistance in planning and coordination of virtual or in-person Fall Broker Forums: researching and gathering information on platforms and venues, coordinating presentations, marketing collateral, and manage RSVP lists
  • Assisting Broker Operations team in the broker contracting process: following steps to enter new brokers into our Broker Tracking System and ensuring all necessary paperwork is on file.
  • Gathering training content and working with external vendors to design and develop Medicare certification: completing user acceptance testing, troubleshoot technical issues and escalate issues to vendors when appropriate
  • Providing support to the Sales and Broker teams by developing an understanding of job functions: assisting in processing requests for sales materials and other administrative duties as assigned


Qualifications:



  • Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Business Administration, Management, Sales, Marketing or related field
  • Previous experience in sales, marketing, customer service or similar fields helpful, however not required


Skills and Abilities:



  • Professional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and team player skills
  • Strong self-management skills and ability to prioritize and manage time
  • Proficient technical/computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Office

This position is an Office role, which requires an employee to work from the designated office - Minnetonka, MN - , on average, 2+ times per week.
