WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview): Supervise the daily operations of the National Molecular Laboratory, a busy CLIA-licensed, AABB-accredited molecular testing laboratory responsible for patient and blood donor testing. Conduct manual and automated DNA extraction and FDA approved tests as well as lab-developed tests. Perform testing utilizing platforms including single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) panels involving end-point detection of SSP-PCR, bead-based extension reactions, MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry and Sanger sequence analysis of genomic and cDNA. Interpret results and patient report generation, preventative maintenance of laboratory equipment and qualification of reagents. Train and assess technical staff in local procedures. Provide support, development and/or leadership guidance to all volunteers. Perform all duties and responsibilities in compliance with standard operating procedures and other applicable Federal, State, and local regulations. Standard Schedule: M-F 10:30-7pm shift Pay Information: $91-121k Annual Salary WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications): Education: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Medical Technology or related field and either advanced degree or certification (i.e. ASCP SBB or MB or equivalent) is required. - the additional qualifications are required, not preferred. We cannot move forward with a candidate that does not have either an advanced degree or certification due to our accreditation criteria. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in a CLIA certified or other GLP laboratory plus 2 years of general laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required. Certification may be substituted for 1 year of specific lab experience. Management Experience: Minimum of 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.Supervisory experienced in CLIA certified or other GLP laboratory preferred. Skills & Abilities: Ability to resolve complex problems, often involving groups of people. Organizational skills withtheability to prioritize tasks, delegate and follow-up. Knowledge of scientific and blood bankprinciples pertaining to immunohematologic testing preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability toinfluence and motivate others. Knowledge of test methods, project management systemsand tools.Ability to work on a team.
