Hill International is seeking a Deputy Building Inspector in Los Angeles, California

The Deputy Building Inspector will provide special inspection support for the Tom Bradley International Midfield Satellite Concourse South project. This role requires knowledge of multiple code requirements, effective communication, and time management.


  • Create and maintain comprehensive daily inspection reports that capture the who, what, when, where, and how of all construction work activities, while ensuring the reports are clear and concise to accurately reflect daily progress.
  • Assist in reviewing monthly progress payment requests when assigned to a program.
  • Track various changes, verify time and material work, measure, and document job quantities.
  • Conduct special inspections on various disciplines.
  • Possess experience, knowledge, and understanding of methods used throughout construction.
  • Possess valid Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety (LADBS) Deputy Licenses in the following disciplines:
    • Concrete construction
    • Steel construction
    • Drilled-in anchors/seismic resistance
    • Spray-applied fireproofing
  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • CAL OSHA-30 certification
  • Fall protection and harness training
  • 5 years or more of experience performing as a LADBS Deputy Building Inspector on large-scale projects.
    • This includes overseeing and ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations on significant construction projects.
    • Involvement in complex projects that require coordination with multiple stakeholders, including contractors, engineers, and city officials.
    • Expertise in identifying and addressing code violations, ensuring that all aspects of construction meet the required standards.
  • Knowledge of Project Management Information Software used for inspection/document control (i.e. PM Web, Adobe Pro, Bluebeam, etc.).
  • Computer proficiency to review and utilize electronic equipment for contract documents efficiently, including change orders, submittals, RFIs, and other inspection documents, with minimal supervision.
  • May assume other duties as required/needed.
  • May be required to work various shifts as needed.

The salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.
