JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Salesforce Marketing Cloud Lead / Administrator Penn State University is seeking a skilled Salesforce Marketing Cloud Lead / Administrator. This critical role involves leading the implementation of Marketing Cloud at Penn State University, a vital service to the Enterprise Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) program and Salesforce CRM platform. Penn State is building an Enterprise Constituent Relationship Management (ECRM) program using the Salesforce.com platform. ECRM will help manage our relationships and constituent information, enabling us to grow alongside all members of the Penn State community. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and supporting the Marketing Cloud platform, including planning, implementing, and maintaining it across multiple business units. Additionally, they will provide guidance and training to end-users. Currently ECRM Phase 1 and Phase 2 implementations are underway and consist of the following:
Phase 1: Advancement & External Organization (Sales Cloud) - In collaboration with the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, corporate relations professionals, and Penn State Information Technology (PSIT), we are building a CRM instance to manage relationships with alumni, donors, corporate partners, and other external constituents. Phase 2: Learner Organization (Education Cloud) - In partnership with World Campus, the Fox Graduate School, and PSIT, we are developing a CRM instance focused on managing learner relationships from recruitment through graduation, including communications and case management. Marketing Cloud - We are implementing a communications automation platform for mass email/SMS journeys and preference/subscription management across both phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the implementation of Salesforce Marketing Cloud at Penn State University with responsibility for the continuous success of the platform across multiple business units and Salesforce CRM orgs Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure effective development and support of Marketing Cloud platform Develop and maintain Marketing Cloud data extensions, data models, and data integrations with other systems Configure and manage Marketing Cloud connectors, including Salesforce CRM, social media platforms, and third-party integrations Monitor and troubleshoot Marketing Cloud data synchronization processes and resolve any errors or data quality issues Implement and manage Marketing Cloud security and compliance measures, including user access control, data retention policies, and GDPR compliance Design and implement complex Marketing Cloud automation workflows, including event-based triggers, behavioral triggers, dynamic content, and personalized messaging Design, implement, and maintain communication preference centers across business units and in conjunction with Salesforce orgs and external systems Develop and maintain Marketing Cloud API integrations with other systems, such as web analytics platforms, e-commerce platforms, and event management systems Define and execute email data interactions (import, data extracts, file transfers) Guide interpretation and improvements based on Marketing Cloud Intelligence analytics (formerly Datorama) Lead and participate in Marketing Cloud testing and quality assurance processes, including user acceptance testing, regression testing, and performance testing Manage Marketing Cloud email deliverability, including IP reputation monitoring, email authentication, and bounce management Manage subscribers across Marketing Cloud business units and in relation to the Salesforce Customer Data Platform (CDP) Develop and maintain Marketing Cloud documentation, including system diagrams, technical specifications, and user manuals Provide training and technical support to end-users and troubleshoot any issues related to Marketing Cloud functionality or configuration Identify and recommend solutions to optimize Marketing Cloud performance.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree and 6+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's degree in marketing, computer science, or related field is preferred
Experience and Skills
Proficient in Marketing Cloud Journey Builder, Email Studio, Contact Builder, Interaction Studio, Automation Studio, and Salesforce Data Extensions. Strong knowledge of marketing automation, CRM concepts, and working with multiple Marketing Cloud business units. Experience with building and configuring email templates, landing pages, and using Ampscript. Proficient in SQL for data manipulation and querying. Experience with data analytics related to marketing metrics and reporting. Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator, Email Specialist, and Consultant certifications preferred.
The location of this position is flexible and can operate fully remote within the United States, fully in-person at our University Park Campus, or in a hybrid model of both in-person and remote.
