Summary

Spire Midstream is seeking a Director, Marketing to join its commercial team.This position will work closely with asset optimization, scheduling, financial, and business/corporate development groups at Spire. The position will focus on building a strong market presence in the United States, specifically emphasizing the Midcontinent, Midwest, Rockies, and Western regions. Spire Midstream's assets that this role will support are Spire STL Pipeline, Spire MoGas Pipelne, Spire Storage Salt Plains, and Spire Storage West.

The Director, Marketing position will have direct responsibility for originating short and long-term storage and transportation service agreements with targeted utilities, power generators, producers, and industrials.Represent Spire at targeted industry events/associations, customer meetings to discuss transportation/storage services, and present/speak at industry events concerning Spire Midstream assets. In addition, the position is responsible for having a key role in developing and maintaining Spire's commercial gas strategy focused on diversifying risk and maintaining revenue.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Originate and maintain new commercial development for Spire Midstream, including Firm Storage and Transportation transactions.

* Support Spire business development activities for organic expansion projects and acquisition efforts for additional midstream assets

* Review natural gas demand, natural gas supply, and prices to support the development of commercial strategies for midstream asset operations. Monitor all developments in the United States gas markets related to physical gas, including supply and demand trends, gas prices, gas flows, locational basis, seasonal spreads, volatility, etc.

* Understand regulatory oversite/requirements of targeted customers and develop strategies (and proposals) to sell Spire midstream services.

* Work with Spire Midstream leadership to develop and maintain a commercial strategy for Spire Midstream's storage and transmission assets. The position requires aggressively growing market presence throughout the asset footprint.

* Grow and maintain relationships with targeted utilities, power generators, producers, and industrials for the development of Spire Midstream's storage and transmission assets.

* Develop presentations for presentation to targeted customers.

* Extensive travel requirements to meet with targeted customers at their office, industry events, or relationship-building functions. Expectation is that 2 out of 4 weeks per month will incorporate out of town travel.

* Provide timely and accurate information to facilitate accurate scheduling and accounting for all gas transactions.

* Work effectively with Spire's shared services organization, including legal, treasury, accounting, etc.

* Work with Spire Midstream's commercial team to evaluate future commercial transactions within the wholesale gas market.

* Support forecasting of customer monthly and daily injection and withdrawal volume capability for Storage.

* All other duties as assigned.

Essential Characteristics and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and presentation development skills with experience in the natural gas industry.
  • Direct natural gas pipeline and storage marketing experience with utilities, power generators, and industrials in the Midwest, Midcontinent, Rockies, and/or Western United States.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct supervisory responsibilities for MoGas commercial

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the natural gas markets, including customer interface, marketing responsibilities, transaction origination, market analysis, and marketing/buying/selling transportation and storage services.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Solid understanding of all aspects of the physical gas value chain (i.e., Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream).
  • Extensive knowledge of the western United States, Rockies, Midcontinent, Midwest, and Gulf Coast natural gas pipeline grid, including how pipelines, supply basins, and market areas fit together to supply the region.
  • Knowledge of how gas usage varies based on weather and other factors and the resulting constraints and impacts on pipeline capacity and value in the market.
  • Knowledge of structuring and negotiating long-term transactions with utilities, power generators, industrials, pipelines, and producers.
  • Solid understanding of financial products, including options used to supplement the physical gas trading and the marketing business.
  • Solid understanding of risk management techniques to hedge a gas trading/marketing portfolio.
  • Broad understanding of energy markets (i.e., oil, gas, power, NGLs) and their fundamental drivers.
  • Ability to read and interpret pipeline and LDC tariffs.
  • Knowledge of the gas industry regulatory process at both state and federal levels.
