Senior Property Accountant Our client is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage financial accounting for an assigned portfolio of properties. This position plays a critical role in the preparation and oversight of financial reporting and analysis for a diverse portfolio of multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use assets, and supporting regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple properties, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and financial data accuracy Prepare and review monthly GAAP financial reports for internal stakeholders and external investors Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decisions Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management; provide regular updates on cash positions Serve as a financial point of contact for property management, investors, and senior leadership Coordinate audits and prepare financial statements with footnotes for fund-level reporting Manage tax compliance by reviewing returns, understanding journal entries, and resolving issues with external accounting firms Lead ad hoc financial projects and contribute to company-wide strategic initiatives Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability of accounting operations Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 4-7 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting practices; CPA preferred Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis) Experience with accounting platforms; Yardi or MRI preferred Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
