Senior Property Accountant
Our client is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to manage financial accounting for an assigned portfolio of properties. This position plays a critical role in the preparation and oversight of financial reporting and analysis for a diverse portfolio of multi-family, commercial, and mixed-use assets, and supporting regulatory compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily accounting operations for multiple properties, including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and financial data accuracy
  • Prepare and review monthly GAAP financial reports for internal stakeholders and external investors
  • Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide insights to support strategic decisions
  • Collaborate with internal teams on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management; provide regular updates on cash positions
  • Serve as a financial point of contact for property management, investors, and senior leadership
  • Coordinate audits and prepare financial statements with footnotes for fund-level reporting
  • Manage tax compliance by reviewing returns, understanding journal entries, and resolving issues with external accounting firms
  • Lead ad hoc financial projects and contribute to company-wide strategic initiatives
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and scalability of accounting operations

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of relevant accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting practices; CPA preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis)
  • Experience with accounting platforms; Yardi or MRI preferred

The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
