Summary of Job Duties:The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing construction and renovation projects within the Facilities & Safety Department. This role will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Manager will also focus on operational efficiencies and providing strategic insights through cost analysis and reporting.

This position reports to the Director, Facilities & Environmental Safety. Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Work Experience: Minimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business administration or related fields. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.

Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: preferred education includes a PMP certification; at least two years of working as a project manager experience. Supervisory experience is a plus. Any other certification pertaining to project management.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Construction Management: Oversee university construction and renovation projects from initiation to completion.
  • Safety Projects: Collaborate with Environmental & Occupation Safety Specialist to ensure areas across campus of operating within regulatory guidelines.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Obtain and evaluate quotes and maintain productive relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Project Efficiency: Assist Director in developing strategies to improve operational processes and maximize quality output within the Facilities & Safety Department.
  • Contract Oversight: Collaborate with the university's legal and procurement teams to ensure compliance with contract terms and university policies.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present monthly reports summarizing project status, budget performance, and key milestones.
  • Financial Management: Conduct cost analysis to ensure projects are financially efficient and within budget.
  • Workday Management: Utilize Workday to manage project data, track expenses, and generate reports.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Partner with various university departments to align project goals with institutional objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork.
  • Requires consistent on-time attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead and coordinate multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to address project challenges and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, cost estimation, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to use project management software and ERP systems, preferably Workday.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Additional Information:

Working Relationships: The Project Manager will interact with a variety of personnel on campus. They will closely work with the Physical Plant Personnel, Public Safety, and the department managers of all laboratories that produce hazardous and medical waste on campus.

Special Job Dimensions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. The employee frequently sits for extended periods of time, and occasionally stands and walks. Vision demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen. Employee regularly talks and hears. Employee occasionally lifts items up to 50 pounds. Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Salary Information:

$50,000-$55,000 Commensurate with education and experience.
