Overview (Scope of Role)

Aristech Surfaces LLC, now part of Trinseo, is seeking a hands-on product development chemist for their Florence, Kentucky R&D Center. The successful candidate will lead product development projects in cast acrylic and solid surface market segments.

This is an onsite position in Florence, KY.



Responsibilities

    Working safely and understanding compliance with safety rules is key for the company.

  • Taking responsibility for raising awareness of safety related to an activity or situation.

  • Active participation in safety culture and safety programs such as regular inspections.

  • Scale-up product formulations from the lab scale to manufacturing scale
  • Use chemistry and formulation knowledge to design cost saving projects
  • Use Design of Experiment techniques to optimize product formulations
  • Work with cross-functional teams to commercialize new products
  • Use Stage Gate processes to manage projects
  • Manage analytical lab equipment


Qualifications

  • MS in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering with a minimum of two years relevant experience
  • Hands on formulation work in the polymer industry and experience in free radical polymerization
  • Hands on analytical laboratory experience in rheology, DSC, FTIR
  • Design of Experiment experience
  • Knowledge of JDE ERP software is highly desirable
