Job Description: This is the journey level position in this classification series. All job functions listed below shall be under minimal technical guidance of higher level engineers/manager/supervisor, perform/lead routine engineering projects, and provide recommendation to the supervisor/manager. Requires independent judgment in performing tasks listed under the job function. Occasionally provides direction to junior level engineers in a lead capacity on engineering projects and technical review of the work of others. Shall make presentation to districts and outside agencies; may represent the company in meetings with outside agencies to make routine decisions. This position is located in Bakersfield, CA.Essential Functions:

Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an indoor controlled climate facility. The noise level in the work environment is low and does not require hearing protection. Occasional travel to job sites is required and may involve exposure to changing outdoor conditions. The employee has access to the following safety equipment items as needed: Climbing harness, safety lanyard, Safe-T climb, steel-toed boots, climbing gloves, hard hat, safety vest, ear plugs, gas monitors and safety glasses. Confined Space Training and Climbing Training is provided as needed for the position Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends much of the shift sitting at a computer workstation using the keyboard and the mouse. The employee must be able to view a computer screen and read documents. When in the field, the employee may stand and/or walk for up to 15 minutes at a time. Driving to various sites is required occasionally and minimal overnight travel is required. The employee may be required to climb stairs, water tanks, ladders and into underground vaults on an infrequent/frequent basis. They may work near pumps and motors where there is exposure to moving parts and potential electrical shock. The employee must be able to lift and carry PPE gear bags (up to 22 lbs.) up to 50 feet.
