Job Description

The Executive Director - Heart & Vascular Institute is responsible for the smooth and efficient operation of cardiology practices including management of the profit and loss statement for the business, as well as the related resources associated with the practice's operation. This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing physician practice operations. In this capacity, this position carries responsibility for integrating the strategic plan of the organization within the operations. This position provides management oversight for the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated clinical programs within the practice. This position facilitates deliverables for providing quality care and realizing payer incentives and penalty avoidance. The Executive Director assists management in the development of operational and financial objectives. The Executive Director - Heart & Vascular Institute establishes, manages, and monitors policies and procedures for the division that ensures the maximization of productivity and profitability and ensures compliance with all relevant areas of regulatory/corporate compliance. The position provides leadership to maximize opportunities locally, regionally and nationally with the physically active community to promote the services of Baptist Health Care. The management portfolio held by this leader is notably diverse, with corresponding broad organizational implications and complexity, characterized by substantial scope of responsibility in this respect.

Qualifications:

Work Experience: 7-9 years health care practice management/directorship experience required.

Education: Master's degree in business administration, health care administration or related field required.

Certification: Certification with the American Academy of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the daily operations of the Baptist Healthcare Orthopedic practices.
  • Assists President - Baptist Medical Group in developing and implementing the strategic long and short range plans and business plan.
  • Represents and interacts with regulatory agencies, insurance carriers and other professional community groups.
  • Constructs and enforces a physician/staff compliance plan together with the health system's Compliance Officer and compliance department.
  • Identifies opportunities for partnerships and strategic alliances to enhance market position and organizational effectiveness.
  • Develops policies, procedures, programs, protocols, and systems for effective operational success.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative issues effecting medicine and communicates changes to the physicians and practice.
  • Works with leaders to maintain a high level physician standards and patient care design.
  • Actively participates in service, departmental and organizational wide committees, as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one represents.
  • Seeks new program strategies and/or program enhancements that would expand client care services.
  • Completes an operational budget that reflects required workload, forecasted units of service, and programmatic changes.
  • Develops, prioritizes, and defends a capital equipment budget.
  • Attains all agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization's overall mission.
  • Is responsible for department's operational excellence; ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Manages team members which include orientation, development and evaluation of personnel, and monitoring the provision of delivering quality services. Participates in the recruiting, interviewing and selecting of team members following policies, guidelines and applicable laws. Evaluates their performance relative to job goals and requirements. Provides coaching to staff, recommends in-service education programs, and ensures adherence to internal policies and standards.
  • Is responsible for the fiscal management of department; assures proper utilization of organization's financial resources.
  • Effectively communicates departmental, organization, and industry information to staff.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Master's Degree Business Administration, Health Care Administration Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 7-9 years Practice experience in the Orthopedic Specialty Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • American Academy of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) Upon Hire Preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of human resource management, program development and fiscal management skills.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
  • Must have basic knowledge related to the principles of management.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of revenue cycle in a healthcare environment across the continuum of care.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills, with the ability to build and lead high performing teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to measure and improve outcomes.
  • Basic functions of PC software including Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
