OVERVIEW The Controls Engineer is responsible for maintaining instrumentation and control systems in support of plant production, quality, GMP, and safety goals. Design and implement changes to the instrumentation and control systems in the plant. This person will also manage capability development and sustaining programs for controls and E&I technicians. DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the replacement, upgrade, and maintenance of control systems and instrumentation, including both hardware and software, to ensure seamless plant operations.
- *Offer specialized expertise in instrumentation to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support new capital projects.
- Assist with troubleshooting process instrumentation, electrical/control panels, and molding machines to resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Deliver operational support for existing control systems and infrastructure, prioritizing the reduction of production downtime.
- Provide hands-on operation, maintenance, technical support, and training for production and maintenance teams.
- Design and implement logic and algorithms for discrete and analog process control, adhering to company standards.
- Develop HMI (Human-Machine Interface) applications tailored to operational requirements.
- Maintain and enhance the performance of historian software to ensure optimal functionality.
- Efficiently manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines, demonstrating the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Assist in the creation and development of documentation and drawings to support technicians and the production team effectively.
- Maintain 24/7 accessibility to address operational needs and ensure uninterrupted support.
ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)
- Demonstrated knowledge of three or more of the following: Cimplicity HMI / SCADA Platform, FT VIEW ME, Allen Bradley PLC systems (PLC5, SLC500, and ControlLogix) and associated I/O systems, Allen Bradley or ABB VFDs / Soft Starters / Servos, GE power distribution MCCs, process instrumentation (analog valves & transmitters)
- Skilled in reading, analyzing, and updating electrical drawings and P&IDs
- Experience in analyzing and maintaining medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
- Experience with Fanuc robotics programming is desirable.
- Knowledge of Process Control Communication Networks like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus TCP is desirable.

WORK EXPERIENCES
- 1-2 years of hands-on controls and instrumentation experience.
- Previous food industry experience preferred
- GMP Practices, Sanitary Design, and OSHA regulations knowledge
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- An associate's degree in engineering or a related discipline from an accredited college/university, with related coursework required or equivalent work experience
