Job Title: Associate Consultant Department: Service Delivery Reports Title: Practice Leader FLSA Status: Exempt POSITION SUMMARY: An Associate Consultant works with project team members to assist the Consultants, Senior and Principal Consultant(s) to provide expertise for our clients, partners and professionals. Associate Consultants will work with team members and clients to perform such tasks as facilitation of requirements-gathering workshops; creation, maintenance, and updates to systems engineering and network technology deliverables; provide information security expertise; perform needs analysis; provide training and evaluation; host webinars; provide telephonic client support and provider outreach; re-engineer client business processes; develop detailed requirements and system specifications for new information technology endeavors; oversee and/or perform independent verification and validation (IV&V); provide procurement assistance; provide quality assurance testing; or perform research activities. An associate consultant will work with project team members, based on a functional specialty, to develop polished business and technical skills that will put their knowledge into action and provide expertise for our clients, partners, and professionals to succeed. Associates will receive professional development training to augment their work experience. NYSTEC staff members and outside experts supply this training - a mix of, leadership, and technical instruction. The associate will partner with their practice leader to prepare a professional development and training plan. Associates will learn and grow consulting competencies, such as client business knowledge, consulting business knowledge, NYSTEC tools and methodologies, partnering and networking, managing successful outcomes, analytical skills, facilitation presentation and written reports, emotional intelligence, managing quality and risk, leadership, ethics, and professionalism. Based on the associate's technical background and interest, they will be assigned to a functional specialty, such as business analysis, instructional, quality assurance, information security, solutions architecture, or converged networks. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work conditions are typical for an office environment but may vary based upon an employee's individual project or work assignments. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but will depend on the office setting and/or client setting. This role requires sitting, working on a computer, and reviewing resource materials. The position may require long hours, including evening and/or weekend hours. This role will spend time traveling throughout the geographical area interacting with clients and employees at client and corporate offices. Travel may be required, as necessary, including but not limited to travel by air, train, car, or subway travel. Occasional standing, bending, walking, lifting up to 20 lbs., and climbing stairs may be necessary.
