We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated individual to join our team as the Director, Market Aligned Value Based Care Operations. This role is critical to our Value Based Care (VBC) strategic initiative and requires a thorough knowledge of Medicare operations and VBC to ensure success. The Director will be responsible for leading ongoing VBC initiatives across the Operations and Experience (O&E), identifying and prioritizing critical challenges and opportunities, and ensuring alignment of O&E VBC efforts to enterprise-wide priorities.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Refine and own structure and execution of Program Management Office for cross-functional VBC initiatives, across Lines of Business, including consolidated reporting, tracking of efforts, and managing of associated metrics
  • Maintain and drive VBC initiative capital tracking process
  • Provide oversight and guidance to teams executing key VCB improvement initiatives, including a lens for key enterprise / business priorities
  • Drive development and formal sharing of communication on VBC initiative progress to leadership and O&E partners
  • Monitor and analyze key metric trends and share insights on VBC performance
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize VBC operations and develop framework for identifying incremental VBC challenges and opportunities
  • Collaborate with O&E, business, and Optum partners to prioritize VBC initiatives, including owning the development and maintenance of a multi-year roadmap
  • Drive alignment of VBC operations initiatives with enterprise and business priorities
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Monitor and analyze market / metrics trends to identify opportunities and risks



Strategic Focus:



  • Workstream Management: Collaborate with O&E and Optum partners to refine ongoing workstream management processes to ensure effective oversight to in-flight efforts, identification of interdependencies, and critical opportunities to maximize value
  • VBC Roadmap Development and Execution: Conduct ongoing assessment of critical VBC ops improvement opportunities aligned with business priorities, including growth, productivity, etc., and maintain implementation roadmap for key O&E functions; collaborate with O&E owners to ensure executional certainty
  • Upskilling and Advocacy: Support VBC training team on identifying opportunities for upskilling and education on VBC operations to maximize effectiveness

Required Qualifications:



  • 7+ years of experience in Medicare or VBC operations, healthcare, or a related field
  • Experience with Value Based Care programs, such as operations, payer partnerships, provider operations, or related
  • Knowledge of Medicare and VBC Operations: In-depth understanding of VCB and Medicare operations, including regulatory requirements, market dynamics, and best practices
  • Lens toward Compliance and Quality: Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to Medicare operations and a dedication to delivering high-quality outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Strategic and Structured Thinking: Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals and drive ops performance
  • Effective Communication: Proven ability to structure and deliver effective, concise, and meaningful communication to leadership, peers, and stakeholders
  • Adaptability: Proven adept at working in cross-functional and highly ambiguous environments and bringing structure to ambiguous problems
  • Analytical Skills: Proven solid ability to analyze data / metrics trends, identify opportunities and risks, and make data-driven decisions
  • Collaboration and Leadership Skills: Proven excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and to lead and manage teams, with a focus on mentorship and development

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
