BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Auditor II (Payroll) Department of Finance Payroll Systems and Operations Division Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $79,260.00/annually This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Under supervision, the class performs fully functional professional auditing duties as the intermediate level where the position works independently on moderately complex auditing assignments and conducts out of area audits under the guidance of senior-level auditors, and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Audits and processes various types of Payroll Payouts, including but not limited to on Demand Quick Pays, Court Settlements, Retros, and Mileage. * Audits employee charitable contributions for 29 agencies to remit payment. * Audits multiple payroll reports to remit Federal and State tax payments. * Responds to written and telephone inquiries from the Internal Revenue Service, Social Security Administration, Illinois Department of Revenue, Illinois Department of Employment Security, and Illinois Department of Labor. * Participates in internal and external audits. * Organizes financial data and prepares computerized spreadsheets and analyses of data. * Runs various Business Objects reports and payroll adjustment reports. * Assists in periodic system testing for upgrades and maintenance. Additional duties may be required for this position.
Location: 121 N. LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60602 Days: Monday through Friday Hours: 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in accounting of a directly related field with 15 semester hours in accounting, plus one (1) year of professional auditing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met. NOTE: You must provide your college or university transcripts with 15 semester hours of accounting courses at the time of interview. IF YOU FAIL TO PROVIDE this information at the time of interview, you will not be allowed to proceed with the interview and will no longer be considered for this position. Preference will be given to candidates possessing the following: * Previous experience working with financial systems such as Oracle * Previous experience in payroll administration * Proficiency using Microsoft Excel * Proficiency using Microsoft Word
