The Senior Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) will support our rare disease portfolio, primarily in the therapeutic areas of pediatric neurology/epileptology.

The Senior MSL will foster relationships with national and regional medical and scientific thought leaders as well as patient advocacy groups and centers of excellence in relevant therapeutic areas. This position is an advanced, strategic role; the Senior MSL will play a key role in shaping and executing thought leader engagement plans and medical strategy.

This position is remote and will cover a wide geography, necessitating a professional with established personal and scientific credibility with thought leaders in centers of excellence across the US.

The position will report to the Medical Affairs Director at Upsher-Smith.

Essential Functions:

  • Contribute to the development of overall medical strategy and thought leader engagement plan, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain long-term, collaborative relationships with thought leaders; facilitate scientific exchange and support the company's medical objectives, ensuring frequent and meaningful interactions.
  • Provide up-to-date scientific information through presentations, meetings, and conferences, tailoring content to the audience's level of expertise.
  • Participate in and support the organization of advisory boards, providing scientific expertise and facilitating discussions.
  • Participate in activities to support managed care initiatives, collaborating with market access teams.
  • Engage with advocacy organizations to support scientific and research needs that are aligned with Upsher-Smith's therapeutic areas of interest.
  • Collect and communicate appropriate competitive and scientific intelligence to internal teams.
  • Represent Upsher-Smith at scientific meetings, congresses, and advocacy events.
  • Conduct all afore mentioned activities in compliance with Upsher-Smith policies and procedures and all applicable regulatory and ethical standards for scientific communication and interactions.

Requirements:

  • MS/Advanced Practice Degree in scientific and/or medical discipline (minimum of 5 years clinical experience) or MD, PharmD, or PhD.
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience as a MSL with a strong track record of success.
  • Prior experience (clinical or MSL) in the therapeutic area of epilepsy; experience in pediatrics and/or rare disease (e.g., tuberous sclerosis complex) strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel extensively in the continental US (60% of working days).
  • Demonstrated understanding of the MSL function within a pharma organization required.
  • Experience working for small to mid-size pharma organizations preferred.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
  • Demonstrated collaborative team player who thrives in a small team environment where everyone contributes. Hands-on, proactive, and capable of working independently to drive results, while also valuing teamwork, open communication, and mutual support. Demonstrated ability to wear multiple hats, jumping in where needed, and contributing to a strong, collaborative team dynamic.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation Range:

$147,521.00 - $221,282.00
