Position Description:

The University of Iowa Nurse-Midwifery Division in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking a highly qualified Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join our faculty on the non-tenure clinical track.

We provide full scope midwifery care, comprehensive treatment planning and a broad range of services for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies. Our comprehensive services span the full spectrum of all obstetric patients at University of Iowa Health Care. In addition to patient care, the department is noted for its strong educational programs for midwifery students, medical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physicians. The midwiferydivision administers its own innovative midwifery education program based in the hospital and midwifery faculty teach all didactic content.

Successful candidates will be required to self-disclose any misconduct history or pending research misconduct investigation including but not limited to sexual misconduct in prior employment and provide a related release and will be subject to a criminal background and credential check.



Education Requirement:

Successful applicants must have a master's degree. If master's degree is not in nursing, a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates must have excellent midwifery inpatient and outpatient clinical skills that include gynecology, contraceptive management, and demonstrated experience in obstetric inpatient care, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, willingness to share on-call responsibilities, work one evening clinic per week, and commute to off-site clinic locations. Must be comfortable working at both our university campus labor and delivery unit and our downtown campus labor and delivery unit. Candidates are required to have either two years of experience as a midwife, training from an academic medical center or eight years previous labor and delivery experience.

Certifications:

Must hold and maintain board certification through American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB) and have active RN/ARNP license issued by the Iowa Board of Nursing. Bothmustbe issued prior to hire.

Desirable Qualifications:

Teaching experience in an academic medical setting, demonstrated ability and/or potential to excel at scholarship and teaching (especially with midwifery students), EPIC proficiency, and interest or experience in group based prenatal care.
