Position Overview

The Cerner Clinical Solution Expert will serve as a critical bridge between clinical operations and Cerner technology solutions. This individual will play a hands-on role in client delivery, solution optimization, and clinician engagement. The role will focus on demonstrating measurable value and impact across Cerner implementations, workflow improvements, system configurations, and go-live support activities.
This position is ideal for a clinical informaticist or Cerner specialist with real-world clinical experience, strong implementation know-how, and a passion for improving care delivery through technology. Prior military Cerner implementation experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

* Serve as a clinical liaison to translate operational needs into optimized Cerner EHR solutions.
* Design and optimize clinical workflows across Cerner modules (PowerChart, SurgiNet, FirstNet, etc.).
* Configure system components in collaboration with IT and clinical teams to meet care delivery goals.
* Conduct and support unit, integrated, and user acceptance testing (UAT) activities.
* Deliver and/or support at-the-elbow go-live assistance, ensuring smooth clinician adoption.
* Assist in supporting and socializing training materials and competency-based learning pathways.
* Ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH, Joint Commission standards).
* Build and validate dashboards, reports, and clinical decision support tools.
* Travel to client sites for discovery, implementation, and sustainment activities as needed.
* Obtain and maintain required credentials, including PIV card and background clearance.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

* Deep understanding of Cerner MODEL build, architecture, modules, and implementation lifecycle.
* Practical experience in a clinical setting (e.g., RN, MD, PharmD, Allied Health, healthcare support services).
* Ability to assess workflows and recommend evidence-based, scalable improvements.
* Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Familiarity with military, VA, or federal healthcare systems is a plus.
* Ability to adapt in fast-paced environments and support multiple concurrent initiatives.
* Strong communication skills with attention to detail and proactive problem-solving ability.

Education & Experience

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Informatics, Healthcare Administration, or a related clinical field required.
* Advanced degree (e.g., MSN, MHA, MPH) preferred.
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with Cerner EHR required.
* Clinical licensure (e.g., RN, PharmD, MD) strongly preferred.
* Cerner certifications or relevant training highly desirable.

Additional Information

* This is a 1099 consulting role with the opportunity to transition to a different employment type based on performance, project needs, and mutual interest.
* Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, employment structure, and applicable contract labor category rates.
* Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and able to obtain federal credentials (e.g., PIV or CAC) and complete a background investigation for a Public Trust clearance.
* Must be available for moderate to high travel without restriction.
