Position: Validation Test Technician

Location: Onsite. Allen Park, MI.


OEM seeking an Automotive Technician that knows what the values should be when looking at the DID or PIDS on a scan tool. Should be able to identify what is under the hood, but understand what the component does and understand what happens when you disconnect it while the engine is running.
Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electronic control systems.
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license and an ability to operate vehicles to be tested (automatic and manual transmissions).
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours a week during normal business hours.
  • Ability to work well with others and be a team player.
  • Self-starter able to work effectively and identify testing inefficiencies.
  • Computer knowledge.

Summary:

Principal duties include performing diagnostic tool testing, performing test procedures, and validating the customer's diagnostic hardware and software in a garage environment. Performing assigned tests and documenting results, Pass/Fail, and as necessary write defects in the testing software package (HPQC). Interact/communicate with Diagnostic engineers regarding Diagnostic tool test findings.


Responsibilities:

  • Validate the customer's product with the following:

    • Inject a fault into the subsystem simulating desired failure.
    • Perform assigned system test case.
    • Use the test results received, to verify that the customer's test procedures correctly identify the injected fault.
    • Document results in validation test management package.


  • Maintain awareness of current automotive technology.
  • Participate in training to learn new vehicle and tool function/operation.
  • Assist the other Diagnostic Validation Group team members as needed.



Preferred Requirements:

  • A thorough understanding of automotive electronics and electrical schematics.
  • Dealership mechanic experience preferred.
  • A.S.E. or Michigan Mechanic Certification preferred. (master preferred)
  • Bachelors or 2 yr. Degree in an automotive related field.
  • Minimum two years of repair technician experience
  • Proficient in computer operation.
