JOB SUMMARY:

The Fire Extinguisher & Pre-Engineered Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the Fire Suppression Service Department's operations, focusing on pre-engineered systems. This role involves staying updated with technological advancements, managing customer relationships, enhancing product lines, and ensuring high-quality service. The Superintendent will track budgets and margin targets to achieve profitability goals and coordinate the activities of the Sprinkler Service Department Team, alongside key administrative tasks.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:



  • Supervise and Manage: Lead and supervise Fire Suppression Service Department field personnel, building a top-tier service team under the guidance of the Pre-Engineered Operations Supervisor/Fire Suppression Manager.
  • Work Order Management: Ensure all open work orders are completed within 30 days of creation.
  • Field Scheduling: Schedule field activities and coordinate with customers, utilizing appropriate staffing tools and aiding in problem-solving.
  • Timesheet Review: Verify accuracy of employee timesheets and ensure timely submission for payroll processing.
  • Service Pricing: Assist the Service Sales Representative in pricing service work according to company pricing structure.
  • Customer Responsiveness: Ensure Fire Suppression Department personnel are responsive to customer and office requests and have robust processes in place for after-hours emergency calls.
  • Equipment Management: Purchase or rent equipment necessary for each job and specific need.
  • Site Visits and Communication: Visit job sites as needed and maintain communication between customers and field teams. Professional Communication: Communicate professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Disciplinary Actions: Review field employees per company policy, and coordinate any disciplinary actions, suspensions, or terminations with Human Resources and management, ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Ensure company-provided and field personnel vehicles are clean and well-maintained according to company policies.
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain tools in proper working order, label damaged tools, and coordinate new tool purchases with management.
  • Ensure quarterly tool inventory checks are completed and report any lost or stolen tools.
  • Employee Training: Ensure field employees are trained per company policies and maintain current licenses.
  • Safety Compliance: Understand and adhere to the company's Safety program, SDS book, Hazard Communication program, and all related policies and procedures. Schedule and conduct required safety training and ensure compliance with site-specific safety policies.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, Certifications: Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field is required.

Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements: 5 years of experience in the Fire Life Safety Industry, specifically in Fire Suppression. 5 years of professional computer skills. Supervisory experience is preferred.

Communication Skills: Must be able to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.

Systems and Software Skills: Familiarity with business intelligence systems and software such as Sage 300 CRE or similar.

Other Qualifications: Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required.

Must comply with SFP's Drug and Alcohol policy and background screening requirements, which may include customer-specific requirements based on contractual agreements. Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time.

Work Environment: Employees will regularly be required to work outside, and be exposed to hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise. Employee will occasionally be required to work indoors in an office setting, work alone and with others. Employee must consistently wear all appropriate personal protective equipment, as required by company safety policies while visiting locations.
