Job Summary: The Technical Manager is responsible overseeing the technical strategy for multiple projects across the division. The Technical Manager supervises multiple Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Programmers who ensure the technical and design requirements for all contracted work is developed, implemented, and delivered in accordance with IES and the Customer's requirements, including but not limited to, drawings (Signal Flows, Elevations, Plan Views, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Conduit Risers, Network topology, Rack layouts), asset tracking, project documentation, audio DSP file creation, control programming, final commissioning & training. All aspects of the assigned project(s) must be carried out as efficiently as possible with respect to staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care, and customer delivery goals. Additional responsibilities include implementing and enforcing quality standards and developing training plans and career path guidance within the AV group. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Empower our technical workforce by providing mentorship, establishing an appropriate training path, and participating in commissioning systems with onsite staff. Proficiently create & coordinate full drawing package: Signal flow diagrams, display & equipment elevations, speaker placement, network topology diagrams, conduit requirements. Vet designs for missing/ wrong material and redesign as needed. Assist Project Managers with change orders & RFIs Coordinate network requirements with clients, configure network switches for multicast traffic & manage VLANs. Create audio DSP configurations, to manufacturer standards, and ready for deployment. Provide top tier technical direction and support to the internal team or customers. Ensure successful technical commissioning and closing out of all projects. Assist PMs with resource planning by coordinating workloads and timelines. Participate in onsite commissioning if needed. Be capable of producing billable work to projects doing at 1 or more of the following: Project Documentation Control system programming Audio DSP configurations Commissioning support Review documentation, programming, audio DSP configurations, or other created work by employees to provide direction and quality checks. Create, develop, and monitor AV warehouse staging & Prefab processes, and personnel. Develop a staff Training Plan and chart AV field staff training. Select or recommend individual training sessions and certifications utilizing IES, and manufacturer courses. Proactively manage - and escalate if necessary- field staff HR issues per Company policies and procedures. Review PM's recommendations for project-related employees' performance reviews, promotions, and pay changes. Complete performance reviews of subordinate staff. Conduct weekly project status reviews with PM's and Dispatchers. Oversee weekly scheduling to ensure projects are staffed within the project budget, and for project success. Manage the workload distribution, monitor the customer delivery, and project installation progress to ensure productivity, profitability, and efficiency are maximized. Manage Technical Field staff levels for Programming, Commissioning, Drawings, and other needed technical deliverables on projects as defined in the project process. Assist AV Engineers and Division Management in the bid review process. Manage all related quality and safety issues and follow up at customer worksites. Represent IES professionally during interactions with customer representative(s). Other responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Physical and Mental Requirements: Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional, and lead others to create, develop, and implement department and project process improvements. Must promote the Company culture and mission, as well as Department objectives to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners. Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to effectively read, write, and give oral presentations. Must have 10 years of Pro-Audio/Visual integration experience, with at least 3 years of technical field experience. Must have proven highly skilled at interpreting blueprints, and other project documents, including but not limited to, scope, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements. Must be able to travel within branch territory and/or regional territory as needed. Must possess the ability to learn Company and customer project management systems. Must be able to successfully secure and maintain a Company-sponsored American Express Card. Regular attendance is mandatory. Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements: Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency; Bachelor's Degree preferred. CTS-I and/or CTS-D Must have experience in customer interactions and General Contractor interactions. Must possess a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in Commercial Audio Video Must be proficient with Bluebeam Revu PDF editing or similar, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project). Must meet Company minimum driving standards. Must be able to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Must be able to supervise multiple employees. Must have demonstrated verifiable ability to define a project, create a project scope of work, develop, detailed associated tasks and manage the tasks to completion, and manage customer turnover successfully.
