Dean of Journalism Job Description
The Missouri School of Journalism has an opening for a Business Support Specialist II position. This unique position will provide clerical support for two directors: the Watchdog Writers Group and Undergraduate Academic Advising. The ideal candidate will have excellent people skills and the ability to quickly learn systems and accurately respond to time-sensitive tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: * Administrative and clerical support for the Director of the Watchdog Writers Group and the J-School's Director of Academic Advising, actively communicating with each to ensure that expectations of both departments are met. * Manage phone calls, emails, calendars and additional communications on behalf of academic advising director. Access and update student records as directed. Handle inquiries and answer basic constituent (parents, students, faculty) questions about processes and policies. * Work with the J-School Fiscal Office and MU's Office of Shared Services to manage all fiscal issues for the Watchdog Writers group, including managing of expenses and purchases, hiring and onboarding student employees, payment of contracts, and purchase of incidentals, as needed. Prepare expense reports to be sent to Shared Services for input. * Compile and analyze data as directed. Run or request reports related to enrollment management, course management, academic actions and student appeals. Prepare data for academic advising director's review and potential next steps. * Understand and communicate policy information to various stakeholders. Policy information may require explanation and interpretation of established University and School policies and procedures. Direct individuals to sources of additional information, when necessary. * Coordinate and manage academic advising email general account. Respond to appropriate inquiries and forward to appropriate advising staff and Director of Academic Advising as necessary. * Support logistics and event planning for Academic Advising and Watchdog Writers Group events. * Other duties as assigned. An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Anticipated Hiring Range
