Sr Metallurgical Engineer

As a Sr Metallurgical Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to Engineering, Quality, and other departments throughout the organization. As the subject matter expert in the metallurgical processes, you will proactively implement process improvements and ensure compliance in assigned areas. Your good communication skills will be used to collaborate with other departments/teams throughout the plant, as well as troubleshoot any issues as they arise.

As a Sr Metallurgical Engineeryou will:



  • Monitor heat treat operations to ensure compliance.
  • Investigate process failures and report findings, as well as initiate corrective actions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and develop solutions to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain documentation, and create training on heat treatment and metallurgical related processes.
  • Perform internal audits related to material and heat treatment requirements.
  • Participate in Material Review Board and correction action activities, contribute to external Nadcap audits, and visit suppliers occasionally for audit and process improvement recommendations.


What we are looking for as a Sr Metallurgical Engineer:



  • A four year degree in metallurgy or materials science or a related field,
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in heat treatment and metallurgical processes.
  • Extensive knowledge of heat treat processes and equipment.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of ferrous metallurgy, as it relates to heat treating.
  • Experience in aerospace industry or Nadcap compliance is preferred.
  • Six sigma certification is preferred.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and good computer literacy.
  • Highly motivated to succeed in engineering and manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
  • Very good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of the company and external clients; written or verbally.
  • Must be able to physically lift up to 40lbs when necessary.
