To support this mission, Syngenta's Crop Protection Human Resources Team is seeking a Payroll Coordinator in Greensboro, NC. This role involves assisting the payroll team with the processing of bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, which include tax obligations and various administrative tasks. You will also work closely with HR Operations to ensure excellent employee experience.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the timely and accurate administration of bi-weekly and monthly US company payroll processing.
  • Liaise with multiple vendors which support payroll, garnishments and payroll tax via multiple ticketing platforms to ensure accurate data processing and issue resolution.
  • Support preparation and reconciliation of post process reporting in support of Finance and Total Rewards (payroll funding, GL, HSA/FSA, Credit Union, Union Dues, United Way and PAC) including retirement funding for US and Puerto Rico via our retirement vendors.
  • Support ensuring that all tax obligations are met including applying for tax ids and communicate the ids to the payroll provider, review and submission of tax notices to the payroll provider tax team and monitoring payroll provider tax team obligations.
  • Support payroll accuracy by auditing, reviewing, and confirming employees are being taxed in the appropriate tax jurisdictions based on work and residence addresses.
  • Support quarterly and annual payroll reconciliations including employee W2s.
  • Support instruction of the payroll provider for employee tax adjustments and request amended tax returns/W-2Cs as needed.
  • Support requests of pay corrections with the support of the payroll provider to adjust pay history as needed including entries due to overpayment, incorrect taxation due to resident/work location, etc.
  • Support timely preparation of payment/reporting for various state agencies not supported by the payroll provider.
  • Support employees, manager and HRBP inquiries through payroll knowledge and superior customer service.
  • Prepare on-demand ad hoc reports for Corporate Tax, other departments, various state/local tax agencies and attorneys as needed.
  • Support analysis of payroll accounting issues using payroll data and General Ledger systems
  • Support administration of the payroll provider WFM timekeeping platform for all non-exempt employees including accurate timecard reporting, approving, and committing for payroll processing, corrections, employee/manager training, access issues, vacation accruals, annual holiday updates, etc.
  • Support multiple complex pay and entitlement policy configurations including collaboration with site leaders, HRBP's and the payroll provider.
  • Support off-cycle processing to minimize costs through coordination with Payroll Team and strategic planning.
  • Support employee garnishments, wage attachments and child support orders in coordination with the payroll provider garnishment team.
  • Create and maintain local work instructions and job aids for various processes.
  • Back-up and cross-train with NA Payroll Team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing.
  • CCP certification a plus.
  • Extensive experience with payroll tax returns, tax deposits, W2 preparation, etc. required.
  • In-depth working knowledge of federal, state and local payroll practices/regulation.
  • Experience with multiple payroll platforms including Dayforce/Workday a plus.
  • Excellent payroll platform report writing experience/skills required.
  • Advanced MS Office/Excel skills required including pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.
  • Must demonstrate a proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Financial/Payroll accounting knowledge a plus.
  • Continuous improvement tool and methodology experience a plus.
  • Team player/can-do attitude.
