Under the direction of the department head, the person in this position is responsible for leading and directing the activities of the Surveillance Group, including identifying, interviewing, hiring and training. He/she will manage the process of collecting, analyzing, and performing risk analysis for the portfolio. He/she will also be responsible for responding to all Investor and Rating Agency inquiries and for monitoring the work output to ensure that all regulatory, investor guidelines, internal and external benchmarks, and internal policies and procedures are met.
Lead and direct the Surveillance Supervisors in order to meet/exceed all internal and external benchmarks. Lead and direct the Surveillance Supervisors with tasks related to servicing acquisitions. Collaborate with the Vice President of Surveillance in determining staffing needs and space. Interview applicants, make hiring recommendations, provide training, complete performance appraisals [DHP's] as required/requested, and recommend salary increases. Review policies and procedures to ensure all procedures are implemented and followed appropriately. Communicate vertically to determine and establish departmental goals to meet company objectives. Continuously evaluate department progress in the attainment of the goals. Prepare monthly progress and status reports as requested. Recommend revisions to policies and procedures. Monitor the performance of the sub-servicers as it relates to the credit administration function to ensure that contractual obligations and investor requirements are met.
MARGINAL OR PERIPHERAL FUNCTIONS
Previous Management experience. Four-year college degree and/or five years commercial real estate servicing experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a high degree of analytical skills. Overall knowledge of commercial underwriting. Knowledge of operating statement review and interpretation.
Background in real estate servicing or transactions, accounting/auditing, or commercial loan underwriting. Knowledge of CMBS investor reporting. Efficient in the use of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Lotus Notes.
