Overview
To support the mission of Helio Health, Inc., the Residential Medication Specialist is responsible for facilitating and monitoring medication room operations to remain in compliance with applicable regulations, agency policies, and best practice standards. Schedule: Tuesday - Saturday, 7:00am - 3:30pm In addition to Helio Health's comprehensive benefits package, Full-Time hires for this position are eligible for a Sign-On Incentive up to $1,500.00! Pay: $18.00 - $20.70 per hour Working Relationships
Takes direction from the Program Director and keeps them informed regarding content and volume of workload.
- Communicates with staff regarding continuous quality improvement.
- Works with residents, internal and external community agencies and organizations.
- Collaborate with individual, pharmacy, and community health care providers to communicate needs and ensure supply of necessary medications.
- Works closely with the Wellness Coordinator.
Responsibilities
- Assist Program Director in determination of staff member's readiness to pass medications alone without assistance of medication specialist, Senior Resident Specialist, or Program Director.
- Facilitate and monitor medication room operations to remain in compliance with applicable regulations, agency policies, and best practice standards.
- Assist in the development and reinforcement of agency medication policy and procedures.
- Facilitate agency staff medication observation process - allow new staff members to observe three medication passes, provide guidance, and assess ability. Document assessments and forward to supervisor.
- Assists in developing and implementing quality improvement projects for updates to procedures, paperwork, and resident quality of life.
- Maintain inventory of medication room supplies and notify Program Director in a timely manner when supplies need to be ordered.
- Participate in on-call rotation and follows on call procedures.
- Communicate needs and alerts for residents with Wellness Coordinator and Health Direct pharmacy and other local pharmacies as needed.
- Documents files in an accurate, concise, and professional manner to meet NYS and Federal licensing requirements.
- Actively seeks involvement of residents and significant others in program planning and progress assessments.
- Provides services that are intended to assist residents to fulfill their goals and expectations.
- Assists and teaches Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to residents.
- Completes service plans for residents in conjunction with the supervisor, Senior Residential Specialist, residents and collateral contacts as directed by the resident.
- Supervises the self-administration of medication on a daily basis to ensure all medications have been taken by the residents as prescribed.
- Reviews medication book on a daily basis to ensure that all medications have been received as prescribed.
- Ensures all medications are ordered and delivered to the residence when necessary.
- Plans and implements on-going recovery recreation/socialization activities with residents both within the residence and in the community.
- Maintains confidentiality of all case records and patient information in accordance with HIPAA Regulations.
- Provides transportation to residents as directed.
- Assists in the maintenance of the program site and property in regards to cleanliness, removal of debris/snow from sidewalks and minor maintenance issues.
- Conducts random room/property searches as directed.
- Ensures all documentation and entry into the electronic medical record is accurate and timely.
- Follows training instruction at all times when utilizing the system and seeks support from designated staff when appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate's Degree in Human Services preferred.
- At least two years' experience in a mental health setting and/or experience working with individuals with behavioral health disorders preferred.
- Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License.
- Sound judgment and cultural competency.
- Ability to relate effectively with staff, patients, and professional community.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications.
