Georgia State University's Human Resources Administration is looking for a Deputy Chief HR Officer to join our team. Under broad direction from the VP/CHRO, this position is responsible for establishing and implementing strategies across the division of Human Resources Administration and maintaining accountability with all team members. While the Deputy manages certain operational units, these may change based on the needs of the division. The Deputy needs a strong foundation in all HR disciplines.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

This position directly manages 2-4 operational units. Currently, the units under the Deputy CHRO are Employee Relations, the Benefits Unit, and the HR Business Partner pilot. Regardless of the direct units supervised, the Deputy must have a broad background in all disciplines of human resources. As the direct manager of these three units, this position supervises, trains and manages professional staff, including a Director and an Assistant Director. This position manages, monitors, handles and distributes work for more complex complaints filed by employees, as well as the ADA and FMLA requests. This position interprets HR policy and procedures campus wide. This position manages the exit interview process and serves as liaison with BOR new exit interviews. This position develops and facilitates training for upper-level management and staff. Represents the University in unemployment claims and hearings. Stays abreast of current changes to employment laws. Creates and implements strategies/programs to increase retention and boost employee morale and responsible for updating the Employee Handbook.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:



  • Assists with setting strategic direction and accountability measures for the entire division of Central Human Resources Administration.
  • Strategic direction of the HR Business Partner pilot: Works with the Director to develop processes, programs and practices that engage and develop HROs and ensure effective collaboration with colleges and divisions.
  • Direct and manage the Benefits Unit: Works with the Director for Benefits to develop processes to receive and track requests for accommodation.
  • Assists with interpretation of policy and with communication for benefits-related matters.
  • Direct and manage the functions of the Employee Relations office day-to-day operations.
  • Supervise, train, and manage Employee Relations staff.
  • Manages University-wide staff performance evaluations.
  • Active and effective participation on project teams both within HR Administration and with other GSU Departments to provide HR consultation and support and ensure alignment across the institution.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree and seven years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.


Preferred Requirements:



  • Master's degree
  • Expertise in all areas of HR, especially relating to policy and leading high performing teams
  • Understanding of local, state and federal regulations that impact HR
  • Ability to lead and direct a team of managers
