Job Description

We are looking for a Buyer/Planner to support our Long Island, NY facility. You will plan, schedule and monitor the movement of materials through the production cycle to determine required materials. You will purchase materials, using engineering and production schedules to maintain inventory at planned levels. Gathers quotations, examines bids and makes awards. Develops specifications for new contract orders. Obtains materials, components and equipment. Evaluates vendor reliability, develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. Maintains PIR, cost, and relationship with vendor. You will report to the PCA Team Lead. You will work onsite from our Long Island, NY facility.

Your Responsibilities:
  • You will be responsible for comprehending the needs and requirements of customers or business partners in order to bring strategic value to them while promoting customer needs as the key driver for business goals and initiatives.
  • Building strong relationships and partnerships across the company to leverage ideas, capabilities, and processes is critical to the role as well as instilling an energetic and enthusiastic response in others toward achieving company goals and priorities, and arousing others' commitment and support, even when embarking on unknown territory.
  • This work consists of unifying internal constituents around a common vision and goals, and teaming with others for enhanced outcomes. This work requires attention to detail, managing multiple priorities and taking actions with minimal direction which may encompass but not limited to the following:
    • Reviews, analyzes and resolves expectations and error reports from mainframe planning and buying modules
    • Facilitates the resolution of supplier inbound Quality Issues.
    • Maintains Accounts Payable PO price exception report and resolves invoicing discrepancies in accordance with company policy and system requirements.
    • Preserves validity in the dispatch lists and control product lead-times. Responds to customer expedite request promptly and accurately, then quickly relays information to customer service.
    • Create a production plan for the assigned module and final production areas. The production plan considers customer order status, forecast, material availability, production equipment issues, ECN activity and other related production issues in an effort to satisfy customer delivery performance and financial objectives, based on established priorities.
    • Develop an understanding of product life cycle planning including the process of master scheduling, new product introduction, product phase-in/out and inventory planning and provide backup support Production Control Technical Analysts.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the US is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 2+ years of experience in Buying or Planning
  • APICS Certification
  • Demonstrates core knowledge in production control, materials, planning, MRP and procurement
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Working knowledge of purchasing/procurement procedures
  • Previous success in material productivity and cost reduction
