The Field Site Manager (FSM) acts as the on-the-ground liaison between RSG, surveyors, and subcontractors during data collection periods. This fast-paced role requires daily communication with all parties to ensure smooth fielding, meet survey completion targets, and address any performance issues as they arise. This temporary position is expected to last between the end of April through beginning of May 16, 2025 and is for a large-scale survey effort for the NJT Bergen County Line and Pascack Valley Line.

Location(s):

The FSM must be based in the North New Jersey area, with the ability to travel daily to Hoboken and NJ locations during fielding periods.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Resourceful and quick on their feet with a "can-do" attitude for solving logistical problems


  • Comfortable with uncertainty and sees unknown situations as challenges


  • Willing to survey in various locations, especially train stations


  • Flexible with non-standard working hours (early AM, late PM, and occasional weekends during fielding periods)


Position Overview:



  • Type of Position: Temporary


  • Shifts: Select eight- to ten-hour shifts, with variable hours including early morning (starting at 5am)


Job Responsibilities:



  • Supervise and support field staff to maximize survey participation and meet sampling targets


  • Manage a team of six to ten staff, traveling between NJT stations to monitor and coach them


  • Distribute and maintain field equipment


Who We're Looking For:



  • Dependable, conscientious, and resourceful individuals


  • Previous experience supervising temporary staff in areas such as survey research, political canvassing, event management, or the service industry is preferred but not required


  • Interest in transit market research and transportation


  • Ability to reach NJT stations during early morning or late-night hours (transit options may be limited)


  • Team players who are good with people, energetic, responsible, and resourceful

Compensation:

Field Site Managers will be paid $20-$28 per hour, depending on experience.
