About Us:

Washington College is a private, liberal arts school located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland in the historic town of Chestertown. Washington College is a Division 3 institution that sponsors 20 varsity sports and approximately 350 student athletes that compete in the Centennial Conference. We are centrally located within an hour and a half drive to Philadelphia, Annapolis and Baltimore. You will join a staff of 3 full-time athletic trainers.

Description:

The Washington College Sports Medicine Department invites applicants for one (1) full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer position. Those who have recently completed their Masters and/ or Board of Certification exam are encouraged to apply. This is a 10- month, fully benefited position (August 1st -May 31st) with a salary of $52,500. There are opportunities to earn additional income through camps and clinics throughout the year and over the summer. Additionally, continuing education opportunities, NATA, BOC and Maryland Board of Physician Licensing fees are covered by the College. The start date for this position is August 1st, 2025.

Sport assignments will be decided as a staff

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room, including ensuring proper use of equipment and facilities by student-athletes.
  • Provide medical coverage for designated teams, including pre-practice, practice, post-practice and game day coverage.
  • Analyze injuries to develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation programs and make return to play decisions.
  • Autonomous authority in all medical decision making.
  • Maintain detailed medical records for all injuries sustained by Student- Athletes
  • Communication (including participation status) with athletes, coaches, strength and conditioning staff and physicians as well as Health Services for all concussion-related matters.
  • Travel with assigned teams as needed.
  • Assist with inventory within the Sports Medicine Department.
  • Assist with administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

Qualifications

Qualifications



  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. A master's degree in athletic training or related field is preferred
  • BOC Certified at time of hire
  • Maryland State Licensure (or eligible at time of hire)
  • Professional CPR/AED certification
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
