We're looking for a Software Engineer II, Backend to join Procore's Collaboration Division. In this role, you'll focus on creating the common cores of our future application platform, empowering internal and external teams to efficiently and collaboratively create and deliver experiences on the Procore Platform. In addition to playing a key role in our technology strategy, your work will directly enable all experiences built on the platform to seamlessly interact and enable our customer's unique construction needs on a global scale. All while helping to drive immediate and long-term strategic direction for major parts of the technology stack, you'll identify critical areas based on future growth and collaborate with Product, UX, and other groups to develop roadmaps and tackle initiatives.

This position reports to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering and will work from Austin, Texas. We're looking for someone to join us immediately.

What you'll do:

  • Work up and down our ever-evolving tech stack, designing and building a system that aligns with Procore's technical vision of a service-oriented architecture

  • Design and develop our next generation Notification Center, leveraging Procore's platform technologies via several delivery channels.

  • Build underlying application platform features that enable customization and platform extensibility by users, first or third-party developers, and our application teams

  • Build a culture of mentorship, innovation, and recognition by leading our strategic objectives at the team level, and mentoring the talent within your team

  • Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and UX to design and build solutions that delight users and solve critical business problems

  • Develop teammates by conducting code reviews, providing mentorship, pairing, and training opportunities

  • Troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions to challenges that arise during development

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in a domain, including processes and software design that help guide others to create and maintain a healthy codebase

What we're looking for:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or comparable work experience

  • 2+ years experience in Object-Oriented Program fundamentals, Test Driven Development and Design principles with any of the following(Node, Ruby on Rails, Python, C++, Java)

  • Experience working with Kafka is highly desirable

  • Experience designing and building highly scalable, proformat software in a Service-Oriented Architecture

  • Experience and proficiency in designing and implementing APIs and asynchronous streaming platforms

  • Track record of anticipating technical problems that will fall out of major projects and designing solutions to overcome those problems

  • Time-honed expertise with modern web development across the entire spectrum of development, testing, staging, deploying, and monitoring

  • A curious mind driven to innovate and solve customer problems

QualificationsAdditional Information

Base Pay Range $113,040 - $155,430. Eligible for Bonus Incentive Compensation. Procore is committed to offering competitive, fair, and commensurate compensation, and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation will be based on a candidate's job-related skills, experience, education or training, and location.
