Position Summary:
This position palletizes cases by hand as specified by the production schedule and quality monitoring system. Labels and scans completed pallet in warehouse management system (WMS) by use of RF scanner. Records completed pallet information into line record data system to assure accuracy of production count and assure production lot traceability. Changes tape on box sealing equipment and constructs cases by use of low volume automatic box maker.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Start up and check automated equipment for preventative maintenance issues, proper set up and operation. Perform minor maintenance and adjustments as needed. Perform pre-shift preparation and ensure all surfaces that contact product are clean and ready for operation
- Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions to determine root cause. Requires knowledge of electrical/mechanical/pneumatic functions as well as proper operating conditions including air pressure, electrical eye alignment and machine settings. Interpret machine error codes
- Palletize finished product by hand. Ensure that product is properly stacked on pallets by following the designated pallet patterns, minimizing or avoiding overhang, stacking cases straight, stacking cases without leaning and cross tying tiers, as required
- Load cases into box magazine and resupply when needed. May stock and resupply slip sheets
- Validates and verifies for proper coding on cases. Inspect pallets prior to use ensuring that they are not dirty, have broken or missing boards, have protruding nails or are wet. Ensure that product is stacked on the correct pallet, i.e., CHEP, Grade A White, etc.
- Verify all cases produced fall within all customer requirements. Visually inspect shippers prior to stacking for unsealed cases, damaged cases, stained cases and for cases with illegible, incorrect or missing code dates
- Properly complete and turn in all associated paperwork on a daily basis
- Responsible for following all food safety policies, procedures and regulatory criteria including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated preventive controls
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
- 1 or more years of experience
Knowledge and Skills:
- Must be able to read and communicate in the English language in order to verify coding and operate RF scanners
- Must be able to record production data legibly
- Requires an understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to ensure food safety
