ABOUT THE ROLE:

The SCS Loan Servicing Specialist services assigned defaulted loans, resolving problem loans, making overdraft decisions, and recovering value through collateral repossession, foreclosure, replevins and institution of legal proceedings. Handles a wide range of accounts, including small business loans as defined by Alerus and all types of consumer debt.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:



  • Servicing a portfolio of defaulted and problem accounts.
  • Recovering value through appropriate collection and judicial processes, including repossession and replevin actions.
  • Determining impaired value of defaulted loans and recommending appropriate and timely charge offs.
  • Maintaining a proficient knowledge of applicable banking rules and regulations as well as bankruptcy, foreclosure, and collection law.
  • Serving as primary back up for the administration of overdraft programs for accounts that are not assigned an advisor.


WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE:



  • Previous GSE (Fannie Mae) servicing experience preferred.
  • Previous direct bank collections experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of bankruptcy, foreclosure, repossession, replevin, and recovery procedures.
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, State, and local collection regulations.
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office products.
  • Ability to maintain and present a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting. The employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office utilizing proper ergonomic safeguards when doing so. Additionally, the employee must occasionally lift or move supplies and materials up to 20 pounds.

BASE PAY RANGE:

$22.00 - $27.00 per hour
