About this role:
Gartner is looking for an analyst to provide research and advisory to global clients in the US, EMEA and beyond. You are likely to have significant experience as a procurement leader or procurement / business consultancy working with senior-most institution leadership. Your experience will include helping Executives transform their Direct Procurement capabilities and achieve best-in-class performance.

What you will do:

  • Work with a collaborative team of highly experienced experts to build pragmatic and authoritative research and advice that directly addresses the priorities and challenges of clients aligned to the Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement Spend function.
  • Assist clients by showing them how to be more effective, build their internal influence and achieve successful outcomes.
  • Use your experience and understanding of Direct Material Sourcing & Procurement to assist our clients with their current Direct Procurement Challenges.
  • Capable of adapting messaging for different audiences from 1:1 to larger groups, tailoring to suit different needs.
  • You will be seen by clients as a trusted source of advice.
  • Demonstrate strong Q&A skills, correctly interpreting the client question and structuring logical responses for Gartner clients.
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of common root causes of client issues in relation to Direct Procurement.

You will be writing research and represent thought leadership by providing advice to Chief Procurement Officer, Chief Supply Chain Officer, and their teams on a number of Direct Procurement topics including:

  • Best practices around managing commodities and raw materials (hedging, spot buys, sourcing direct, contracting direct).

  • How procurement manages direct disruptions e.g. tariffs and their current impact on direct procurement.

  • How to qualify new suppliers, onboarding new suppliers & offboarding suppliers where necessary.

  • How to develop and execute the global procurement strategy for direct materials & how to align with company growth plans and supply chain requirements.

  • You will be advising the highest levels of direct procurement executives leveraging your significant experience as a high-level procurement professional.

  • How to gather Category/ Market Intelligence to assist clients with Direct Procurement Decision making.

  • Inventory management and VMI.

  • Working with New Product Development function and procurement's role

  • Working with planning, logistics, manufacturing, supply chain partners.

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in a procurement or supply chain management or a related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in procurement, with a focus on direct materials.

  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

  • Experience with procurement software and systems.

  • Excellent listening and diagnostic skills

  • Strong presentation skills

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated significant experience ina multi-tier senior purchasing management role with extensive knowledge of the fundamentals of purchasing.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing commodity strategies to deliver improved supplier cost performance for direct (raw) materials (hedging, spot buys, sourcing direct, contracting direct).
  • Demonstrated experience in procurements role in managing direct disruptions primarily tariffs.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute the global procurement strategy for direct materials, aligned with company growth plans and supply chain requirements.
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement in direct material procurement and contracting.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in qualifying new suppliers, onboarding new suppliers & off-boarding new suppliers.
  • Analytical thinker with a deep understanding of the global trade management for procurement with a proven ability to lead risk assessment and mitigation planning across the supplier base, with emphasis on supply continuity and compliance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Exposure and ability to navigate direct P2P technologies, as well as commodity trading and risk management technologies, supplier collaboration technologies.
  • In-depth related vendor management experience including inventory management and VMI.
  • Provide strategic supply base management including supplier selection, negotiations, and supplier relationship/performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience to work cross functionally coworking with New Product Development (BOM creation) Planning, Logistics, Manufacturing, Supply Chain partners.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 132,000 USD - 167,000 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
