Hourly Pay Range:

$38.16 - $59.15 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

  • Position: RN Clinical Researcher
  • Location: Elmhurst (main location) and Edward (as needed) Hospital - Elmhurst and Naperville, IL
  • Full Time | 40 hours/week
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, no weekends or holidays (flexible start times)

A Brief Overview:

  • The RN Clinical Researcher is a crucial member of our Research and Clinical Trials team. This role combines clinical expertise with research acumen to facilitate and oversee clinical research studies within the hospital. The RN Clinical Researcher plays a pivotal role in ensuring the ethical conduct of research and the safety of study participants. CRU8 is comprised of mainly oncology clinical trials, in addition to neurosciences and continuing to grow!

What you will do:

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. This includes knowledge of the physical and psychological needs of patients served and the ability to respond appropriately to those needs.
  • Evaluates potential study participants for eligibility and ensures study requirements are met.
  • Educates patients and family members concerning study, obtains informed consent and registers patient to study.
  • Provides education/guidance to personnel involved in planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical studies. Assists in training new personnel.
  • Coordinates with other departments of the hospital any testing or procedures related to the research study.
  • Ensures investigational agents are ordered and stocked and investigational drug log is up to date.
  • Coordinates and implements procedures to collect data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests and other sources; codes, evaluates and interprets collected data and prepares appropriate documentation; obtains blood samples, cultures, tissues and other specimens for laboratory analysis. Ensures compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies; identify problems and/or inconsistencies.
  • Monitors study participants for evidence of toxicities from study treatment.
  • Communicates any changes in study or patient toxicities that may require adjustment in study treatment to physician and program coordinator.
  • Assists in regulatory submission including but not limited to: new study application, developing informed consent, submitting annual reviews, amendments, revisions, memorandums and serious adverse events.
  • Coordinates and participates in initiation visits and monitoring visits per study requirements.
  • Prepares and participates in study audits.
  • Attends workshops/in-services, reviews journal, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments in oncology research.

What you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required.
  • License: Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse license, required.
  • Experience: 2-3 years research experience, preferred.
  • Certification: Certification by the Association for Clinical Research Professional or Society of Clinical Research Associates, preferred.
