Bulk Operator

Reporting directly to the Bulk Supervisor, the Bulk Operator 1 is responsible for loading and unloading non-hazardous and hazardous bulk chemicals across facility grounds.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Required - A High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent;
  • Preferred - Position-specific vocational education/experience, training, or certification.

Kind & Length of Experience:

  • Preferred - Experience working as bulk operator;
  • Preferred - Experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse setting;
  • Preferred - Sit-down forklift experience.
  • Required - Basic computer skills (e.g., accessing networks, accessing files, inputting or modifying data, printing files).

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to work on top of tanks up to 70 feet in height;
  • Able to work in ambient temperatures (high and low);
  • Able to work a 12-hour shift with rotating schedule;
  • Able to change elevation using ramps, stairs, and ladders;
  • Able to stand and walk for extended periods (e.g., greater than one hour);
  • Able to independently lift up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis during shift.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS

  • Measure and calculate materials through basic arithmetic and strapping charts;
  • Perform and follow all procedures, including proper documentation, of processed product;
  • Operate equipment (e.g., pumps, piping, hoses, valves, steam, heat trace) to unload and load rail or trucks and ISO containers;
  • Operate material handling equipment, (e.g., forklift, yard truck) for non-hazardous and hazardous materials;
  • Transfer non-hazardous and hazardous one vessel to another (e.g., tanker trucks, totes, tanks, ISO containers).
  • Ability to control equipment through Human Machine Interface and manual equipment;
  • Perform autonomous maintenance, including cleaning, inspecting, lubricating, and tightening to maintain equipment base condition;
  • Lead or support continuous improvement activities through established methods;
  • Maintain housekeeping requirements;
  • Maintain 5S (i.e., sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) standards;
  • Perform washouts, changeovers, and cleaning and sanitization of facilities and equipment;
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures;
  • Act and be safe at all times;
  • Understand and adhere to all task, departmental, site, and company safety rules or standards
  • Assist in maintaining a safe work environment;
  • Comply with all customer, regulatory, and quality requirements in the performance of all tasks as set forth in the company's policies and procedures;
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and organized;
  • Support efforts to implement and maintain the Responsible Care 14001 (RC14001)/Environment, Health, Safety, & Sustainability (EHS&S) management system;
  • Adhere to all Environmental, Health, Safety, Security Requirements covered under Local State and Federal Regulations;
  • Follow all RC14001 guiding principles, policies, procedures and other requirements;
  • Maintain Hazardous waste in accordance to all Local, State and Federal Regulations;
  • Adhere to all DOT, IATA and IMDG hazardous materials or dangerous goods regulations;
  • Other duties as requested.
