PSE's Financial Planning & Analysis Systems team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Financial Systems Analyst II position!

In this role you will support the systems, data, and processes that enable the organization's short and mid-term financial forecasting by ensuring data quality from accounting systems through BW to our financial forecasting system including monthly reconciliation and process and procedure ownership. A successful candidate will be able to ask critical questions, identify and deliver opportunities to improve and/or automate processes and functions, and leverage strong communication and problem solving skills to partner with other financial and IT teams. Key areas of focus include support of financial planning systems, reporting transparency, and process automation.

Job Description

Is integral to the business in any decisions that may be impacted by technology, serving as consultant to business units in planning and coordinating systems analysis, design and implementation projects to automate processing or improve business systems. Analyzes business partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Gathers business needs as well as the design of solutions through direct interaction with business unit leaders. Focuses on developing and improving business processes, assisting with the development of metrics, both within the technology and business organizations.

Functions as primary liaison between Finance teams, IT teams and internal and external customer teams requiring technical and non-technical services relate to financial systems. Works closely with both development staff and the user community to establish and manage projects, business processes, and test plans. Performs a liaison role between user areas to assist in the identification of process improvements, system design, testing and implementation of large and/or complex technical projects, often requiring coordination of multiple functional areas.

Interacts with project teams, application teams, architects, and users. Formulates systems, processes and procedures to parallel and strengthen overall business strategies. Consults with internal customers of IT and Finance team to capture agreed-upon business objectives and processes, communicating these processes and their implications to technical and non-technical contributors to ensure that technology accurately meets business users' goals. Ensures the reliable performance, maintenance and support of Financial systems.

Upholds the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analyzes simple to moderately complex business processes, functions and procedures to determine the most effective business systems technology to meet the needs of the organization.
  • Conducts business requirements reviews.
  • Participates in system development and design.
  • Performs data inputs, uploads and migrations ensuring consistency and accuracy of data and hierarchical structures where necessary. Uses appropriate mechanisms and troubleshoots/follows-up on issues that may arise.
  • Participates in or may lead projects, initiatives and activities to support/improve the needs of the business:

    • Analyzes processes, functions and procedures to determine most effective technology solution.
    • Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties.
    • Assists in formulating test plans, and coordinates/performs testing requirements.
    • Documents and trains on new/enhanced system as necessary.


  • Ensures the reliable performance, maintenance and support of financial systems:

    • Liaison with IT and business unit in resolving system problems and coordinating upgrades, enhancements, fixes and new releases.
    • Tracks and resolves issues related to system performance.
    • Participates in upgrades, enhancements and system fixes coordinated with IT and/or vendors.
    • Participates in user testing and resolving issues related to system performance.
    • Work with vendors and assists with support agreements.
    • Writes associated user documentation and performs training as necessary.
    • Performs system administration functions - access, security and general oversight as required.


  • Maintains structural and data integrity, i.e. system attributes and hierarchies are accurate and current, and data is properly reconciled between planning and reporting applications.
  • Support internal System and 3rd party applications/integrations such as SAP ECC, BW, BPC, PowerPlan, PowerTax, Trintech, internal Business Intelligence systems.
  • Performs other finance duties including corporate reporting, audit responses, benchmarking and/or KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Experience in process design and requirements documentation methodologies
  • Experience with Experience with SAP (BPC, BW), Utilities International (Pre-processor and/or Financial Model), Hexagon/Intergraph Portfolio Management, PowerBI.
  • Familiar with SQL Query, VBA, or BW query
  • General knowledge of accounting, budget and finance
  • General understanding of IT Infrastructure services and delivery processes
  • Self starter
  • Outstanding attention to details, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment is necessary
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Vision

Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a quantitative field or MBA
  • Utility industry, IT Project or related experience
  • Experience with SAP, BW, PowerPlant, Oracle Database, BPC, Trinitech, PowerBI, Blue Prism, Altrix, Microsoft Power Query, VBA, BPC logic script
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, and adapt and react to unforeseen business decisions and situations
  • Ability to drive solutions/decisions beyond area of expertise and proactively addresses potential issues
  • Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Previous experience managing small to mid-sized projects

The pay range for this position is$79,200.00-$131,700.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
