The primary focus for this position is teaching general and systems physiology in the Illinois Medicine Curriculum within the undergraduate medical education program. The curriculum integrates basic, clinical and social sciences throughout all phases. The phase 1 curriculum is an integrated block design in undergraduate medical years 1 and 2 with pathology taught throughout the blocks. Phase 2 and 3 are the clinical years with the opportunity to develop electives to further integrate the basic science in the clinical years. The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) educates 265 medical students and more than 300 physician residents and fellows annually. Additionally, it provides clinical care to more than 45,000 patients annually and conducts basic science, clinical and outcomes research.
